The passion for local flavors and the meeting that started it all - 6,300 km from home

It started with a reunion and an idea. At a rooftop bar in New York, two friends from Sweden met during the North food festival. With long experience in the hospitality and food world in Scandinavia, they shared a passion for local flavors. At the same time, they wanted to find a way to support local food and drink heroes. That was the start of what would become Moveat.

From local premiere to international community

Moveat took its first steps as a food walk in southern Sweden and then quickly found a larger audience. In a short time, Moveat was established in over 70 locations in Sweden. The next step was to cross the border to Norway and Denmark. And after 1000s of completed Moveats, the journey now continues into Europe with Germany as the first destination.

Moveat continues to evolve with a growing community of Moveaters and passionate food operators. Still guided by the same great idea - to bring people together through local taste experiences. And to contribute to a vibrant flavor offering, everywhere.

We want to reduce our own footprint and be a positive force in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As part of both the food and events industry, we see several ways to make a local impact. Both through our own operations, but also by setting requirements for partners, facilitating more sustainable choices and inspiring more sustainable eating. These are some of the things we do.

Less and Better Single-Use Materials

We encourage all our partners to primarily use porcelain and glass. When disposables are necessary, we offer everyone a good deal on more sustainable options.

Always Vegan Options

Plant-based food is sustainable and climate-smart. That’s why every tasting stop during Moveat Original offers vegan alternatives.

In Season

By eating ingredients that are in season and grown nearby, we enhance flavor while reducing our climate impact. That’s why we encourage all participating partners to offer seasonal ingredients.

Zero Food Waste

The worst food for the environment is the food that gets thrown away. That’s why we and our partners work towards zero food waste—primarily through careful planning and preparation for each Moveat event.

Movement for Wellbeing

Good food should also contribute to good health. That’s why we connect food with movement. During a Moveat, you walk approximately 3–5 kilometers.
